She’s got beauty. She’s got grace. She’ll accidentally cut you in your face. Today’s featured catalog item is this beautifully sculpted Kotobukiya Edward Scissorhands action figure. This gender-bent interpretation of the beloved gothic fantasy film character stands 9″ tall at 1/7 scale.
The gentle automaton from Tim Burton’s classic 1990 film is re-imagined here in classic bishoujo statue form. The Kotobukiya Japanese import is based on an original drawing by Shunya Yamashita. The artist captures the awkwardness and vulnerability of the original character in both stance and sculpt with a certain dark whimsy unique to all Tim Burton creations.
“Edward” wears a detailed black gothic outfit. Her ensemble includes boots and stockings, a short dress with shredded skirt, long gloves, and a choker worn around her neck. Furthermore, the dark palette of her clothing is offset by striking gold buckles and studs and, of course, the silver blades of her trademark scissor hands.
Kotobukiya’s elite Bishoujo Statue line includes beloved characters from anime series, DC and Marvel comics, Star Wars, Street Fighter, Tekken and more. See more Kotobukiya creations here.
